Hi and welcome!

I created this blog to talk about my tries and tribulations as a write-at-home-mom as well as give tips, some gossip and plain old humor. I also hope to enlighten readers with stories and issues that they can probably relate to. Here you’ll hopefully find a place to laugh, get inspiration or maybe even feel better that you may not be as dysfunctional challenged as our crazy unique family.

I began writing online after leaving my corporate job behind when our daughter, Emma, was born. I began by trying out all kids of different websites that offered a little payment for my articles. After earning several pennies on some of these sites, and getting increasingly discouraged, I heard about Examiner.com and I applied right away. While I may not be raking it in there, at least I make enough at Examiner to fulfill my goal of “contributing to the household income” and that’s where I now spend most of my writing time.

However, I soon began hearing all kinds of positive comments from moms who had their own blogs writing about all kinds of subjects, while being very successful, so I wanted to give it a try myself. But, for a long time I was afraid to dive in and wasn’t sure how to begin or even if I’d be good at it… So, needless to say, I figured I’d never know unless I tried, and hence here you have it — Mama Writes!

I don’t know if this blog will bring me any earnings, but I am excited just to write about my experiences, some mom celebrity gossip and use some humor along the way. My husband, John, Emma and I are a fun and probably not most typical family, so we have lots of  quirks to share. Right now, my goal is to build a community of like-minded readers whom I can hopefully entertain with some of our real-life adventures, tips and occasional disasters.

I admit, I like mindless celeb gossip for entertainment, and I am a ‘Vampire Diaries’ and ‘Secret Circle’ fanatic, so I am not only writing those columns for money… I actually really do enjoy working on them.

So, if any of you are closet teen TV horror-drama fans or get a kick out of stalking celebrities, go ahead and dive right in!
